Far North Spirits - Bonded 4-Year Roknar Straight Rye Whiskey

ROKNAR is a single estate rye whiskey born of grain grown and harvested by head distiller Michael Swanson on his family’s fourth generation farm.

Aged for a minimum of 4 years in 53-gallon charred oak barrels and bottled at 100 proof.

With a mash bill of 80% rye, 10% corn and 10% malt barley, Far North aims to establish MINNESOTA RYE as a regional style in the spirit of Pennsylvania and Maryland-style ryes.

We seeded AC Hazlet rye for this Roknar on Section 4 in the fall of 2018. It overwintered in bitterly cold temperatures with good snow cover. It survived a summer hail storm and was harvested in August. It was distilled and barreled in October 2019.
