For over twenty-five years now, the Bonnie family has been perpetuating the tradition of the finest Bordeaux wines. Combining exceptional terroir and unique expertise, Château Malartic-Lagravière's red and white Grand Cru Classé Pessac-Léognan appellation delights the palates of wine lovers.

This year, the extreme climate offers a vintage that is both intense and complex, but retains the prestige of the château for a tasting that will delight lovers of great Bordeaux vintages.

A great classified vintage in intense white Malartic-Lagravière 2016

It is both the terroir and the climate that determine the quality of a Pessac-Léognan appellation grand cru. Each year, we adapt the vinification and blending according to the quality of the grapes. This year, the particular climatic conditions brought a touch of character to the grand cru classé in white and red. We therefore adapted the blend to deliver a unique vintage that honors the Bordeaux region.

Extreme climate for an exceptional vintage

The estate surrounding Château Malartic-Lagravière experienced a particularly rainy winter and spring, favoring a good yield. After the rain, we experienced one of the most beautiful summers of the decade, with a severe drought giving the grapes strength and concentration. After a dry and hot summer, the late season remained just as dry, ensuring consistent flowering and grape production. Fortunately, thanks to the water reserves, there was no shortage of water, and the vines were able to develop at their own pace.

Between rain and drought, the climate has allowed us to obtain a balanced, aromatic and dense grape.

Vinification and blending of the Malartic-Lagravière red classified grand cru

For the blend, we chose a fruit/acid balance with:

  • 85% Sauvignon;
  • 15% Sémillon.

Vinification was carried out by slow pressing with cold stabilization and fermentation in barrels between 20 and 22 degrees. Aging was carried out over 12 months to guarantee a grand cru classé as an exceptional white.

A great vintage Pessac-Léognan appellation 2016 vintage acclaimed by critics

This year again, the grand cru classé white wine from the Pessac-Léognan appellation of Château Malartic-Lagravière has been praised by critics around the world.

Olivier Poels of larvf.com explains, "This 2016 shows astonishing potential, with muscle and, above all, vibrant fruit. Juicy and very defined."

The Bettane Desseaux Wine Guide of September 2018 appreciates "a very original nose, smoke, boxwood, lily, white peach, citrus, resinous, superb palate, fleshy, melting, very aromatic, with refreshing citrus notes and great length."
