We don’t call our production facility The Apothecary just because. Think about it: bitters are a panacea. For every cocktail that ails, each dash is just what the doctor ordered. Or, maybe just a doctor in Simon Bolivar’s army. Bolivar was the George Washington of South America, and his doctor was a revolutionary – the creator of the oldest known cocktail bitters, named Angostura for the town of its origin. Known as Bolivar today, we salute the OG and pay homage with these bitters inspired by a recipe found in a 19th century cocktail book. You might taste a little history, but you’ll also pick up floral notes of jasmine and hints of cinnamon and dried fruits. With roots running this deep, aromatic and versatile Bolivar brings depth and complexity to your cocktail. And with origins like that, there’s no way we’d use pre-made extracts or flavors, just real botanicals like the chamomile flowers used to impart a floral and tea-like quality. Now, you know the rest of the story.
